BURBERRY - HYDROPONIC COTTON
I travelled to Spain to photograph agricultural start-up Mediterranean Agro Technologies (Magtech) in Spain and photograph the greenhouses and people currently producing hydroponic cotton for Burberry. It was fascinating to talk to founder David René Rodríguez ( pictured below ) about their approach and hear from him how the current system of cotton production needs to change.
The cotton is grown using coconut fibre instead of soil and fed nutrients through water. With land and water use for cotton so high, this seems like a really positive and logical step to making the production process more sustainable.
