A documentary photography project exploring heavy metal battle jackets and the fans that wear them. The patches on these jackets advertise the fans particular allegiance to different bands, with patches often being added over many years. I worked on this project with my brother, the artist Tom Helyar-Cardwell, who subsequently made paintings of the jackets from the photographs.
